Terms of Use

Last updated: July 12, 2026

DRAFT — legal review pending. Governing law and the credits/expiry language were resolved against the code on 2026-08-02. Operator identity is settled as Daniel Kim personally; a contact address may still be needed. Auto-renewal disclosure is required before the monthly plan actually goes on sale.

Who we are

InkTicker is an iOS app operated by Daniel Kim ("we", "us"). By using InkTicker you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

Your content

Your handwriting samples, the text you type, and the signs InkTicker writes for you are yours. We claim no ownership of them. You give us the limited permission needed to process them — that is, to write your signs — and nothing more.

Acceptable use

We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

Signs are renderings

InkTicker writes stylized, decorative signs. Output can vary from draw to draw — that's part of its character — and it is not a facsimile of any document. Review a sign before you rely on it (we won't be responsible for a misspelled tattoo, though we'd be flattered).

Credits and purchases

Writing a sign costs credits — roughly one per 36 characters, rounded up, with a minimum of one. Messages are capped at 140 characters, so no single sign costs more than four. The cost is calculated on our servers.

Credits reach you three ways, and they don't all behave the same:

When you write a sign, expiring subscription credits are spent first, so the credits you bought outright are the last to go. Credits are not transferable and — except where the law says otherwise — are not redeemable for cash.

If a sign fails to write, its credits are refunded automatically. Asking for a rewrite of a sign that did write is a new sign, and costs again.

Refunds and reversals

Refunds are handled through Apple. If Apple refunds a purchase, we reverse what that purchase gave you: we deduct the credits it granted — never taking your balance below zero — and remove any access it unlocked, including Founding Member status. If Apple reverses a refund, we restore both.

Founding Member

Founding Member is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It includes the credits stated at the time of purchase and unlocks premium features, including ones we release later, for as long as InkTicker operates. Individual features may change or be retired as the app evolves; what we won't do is take a feature you already have and put it behind a separate charge.

Fair use

We rate-limit how quickly signs and handwriting captures can be requested, to keep the service running for everyone. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms; unspent credits are forfeited if we do.

Availability

Writing signs requires an internet connection and depends on third-party services. We work hard to keep the ink flowing, but we can't promise uninterrupted service, and features may change over time.

Disclaimer and liability

InkTicker is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from them will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you and we each consent to those courts' jurisdiction.

Changes

If these terms change materially, we'll say so in the app and update the date above. Continuing to use InkTicker after a change means you accept it.
